PeePee in the potty
Maybe I'm a little crazy or overzealous, but I would really like to have Whitney potty trained before the baby comes. The idea of two in diapers is overwhelming. So a couple of weeks ago I bought her the cute little pink potty and we've been trying a little bit. The first morning I put her on, she sat down and did exactly what she should. Then she peepeed in the potty again that night. Maybe we can do this afterall. The following days however she cried every time I even mentioned the potty. So I decided to try again this morning. When she woke up I asked her if she wanted to go in the potty; she was all for it and excited. We got her diaper off and got her up on the potty and...nothing. So she got up. I tried again in a minute...nothing. So I went to get a diaper and come back to the bathroom and there she is...peepee on the floor. At least she was on the tile. I guess we'll keep trying!

The Good and the Bad
We have had a rough couple of days around here. Mike's dad passed away on Thursday evening. We spent the evening with his mom and siblings and all day on Friday. There have been a lot of emotions felt and tears shed, but everyone is working through it together which is the most important part.
On the other hand, the good news! We had our ultrasound yesterday and...it's a boy! It was good timing for the family to receive some joy! He looks great and is growing as perfectly as can be expected. Now it's time to start shopping!

Multi-tasking
Whitney is already becoming an excellent multi-tasker. I tried to catch her on camera, but of course she stopped as soon as the camera came out. She came walking into the house from the porch holding her baby doll, "talking" on my cell phone (of course she was holding it up to her ear with her shoulder, no hands), while doing all of this she shut the door to the porch behind her. Not bad for one! At this rate, she'll be an amazing multi-tasker as an adult! By the way, I'm sure I've never done all of the above while holding her. :)

babies
Whitney is totally into playing with baby dolls right now. She is so sweet with them. She holds them and rocks them and kisses their heads. She loves to wrap them up in blankets. Whenever she sees a little person (they could be older than her) she always says, "baby." She also does a cute little squat and bends down to talk to them.
I am constantly amazed by her. She is learning and growing in so many ways. She is so observant. Today I found her standing on one of the stairs reaching to turn the hallway light on and off. Later she was climbing up the ladder to "help" daddy. She's figuring out how to climb up onto the couch and a chair. Her speech is really increasing--though we're probably the only ones who understand.
